This model retains the 'background defocusing' mode that was first brought to market in 2009. A technique usually available only with SLR cameras, background defocusing makes the main subject stand out - offering a sophisticated new way for compact camera users to create more expressive, dynamic photographs. The SP-800UZ prevents this with a Dual Shakeproof CCD-shift image stabilisation mechanism and high-sensitivity image capture. An inbuilt gyro sensor detects the range of movement of the camera caused by an unsteady hand, and triggers the internal actuators that use sophisticated algorithms developed originally for the state-of-the-art E-Series to shift the CCD to compensate for the path of movement.
